Part 3 - Baby Modeling Contracts: Getting It Right |

|
When you have met with a baby modeling agency and have determined that they are the best place to work with, they will offer a contract to you. But, do you know if that contract is worded correctly? Are you sure that you understand the terms of it? Contracts can be quite limiting to those that sign them if they don’t understand the terms to them. In many ways, it is the best solution to talk with your lawyer because each contract will be different from the next. Legal wording can be confusing and there is nothing worse then finding out that an opportunity is lost because you haven’t done your homework on it. Contracts are provided to the baby that will be doing the modeling work. As parents of that child, you will, obviously, sign for them and work as their guardian. Contracts will also answer the questions that you need to know.
- Who are you working for?
- What does working for them or under them entail?
- What are the costs that the agency charges?
- What is term is the contract for?
- What happens if the terms of the contract are broken?
- Will you be restricted to only working with one baby modeling agency?
There are plenty of other questions that you may have and the contract should answer all of them. Once you’ve been offered a contract, take it home to read through it. Jot down any questions that you have and take the contract to your attorney. Make sure that he or she goes through it timely and gets their questions or concerns taken care of. When you do these things, you get a great deal, you get to work with the right baby modeling agency and you protect yourself, your child’s image and your child’s money from the start. All of these things are important considerations.
