t's a great idea to pack your labor bag about 3 or 4 weeks before your due date. That way, you'll be prepared, and you won't feel rushed when it's time for you to go to the hospital. Here are a few items that you'll want to have with you at the hospital.

What You Might Want During Labor:

An item to use as a focal point
Lip balm
Lollipops or fruit drops
Books/magazines
Breath spray/mouthwash
Heavy socks
Glasses (if you have them...you can't wear contacts during labor)
Camera or video camera with charged batteries
Snacks
A precise watch
CD player or radio so you can listen to your favorite music
Your personal telephone book - you'll want to give everyone a call!
A long distance calling card if you have family that are far away
Massage Oil
Extra Pillow
Water Spray

What You'll Need For After

Pajamas, or large T-shirts (ones that have front buttons, to make it easier to breastfeed)
Dressing gown or robe
Comfortable underwear/bras
Breast Pads
Sanitary Napkins
A change of clothes for when you leave the hospital (loose fitting is best)
General toiletries - maybe including some makeup? (lots of pictures with family and friends!)

What You'll Need For Your Baby

Clothes for bringing your baby home (including hat and outer clothes if it's cold outside)
Baby Blankets
Diapers (your hospital may supply them, but it's good to bring them just in case)
Car Seat in your car
