Have you ever seen one of those old movies where a woman faints, and everyone automatically assumes that she's pregnant? It's fun to laugh at movies like that, but in reality, it isn't that far from the truth. When you're pregnant, your total blood volume increases substantially. In addition, certain hormones will be released during your pregnancy that will relax your arteries and lower your blood pressure. This means that you are more susceptible to feeling faint.

Here are some great ways that will help you avoid feeling faint.

- Breathe regularly to ensure your blood is properly oxygenated
- Don't skip meals and snack if you are hungry between meals
- Don't stand for long periods of time. Plan your activities in such a way that you can move around and rest.

Frequent faintness may be an indicator of anemia, low iron levels in your blood. This is a common problem in pregnancy that can be treated by a change in diet or by using an iron supplement. Be sure to talk to your caregiver about your options.

Stay Out Of The Heat

When your body experiences hot temperatures, blood vessels dialate to permit sweating. This can lead to fainting and so if you want to avoid fainting you should focus on keeping your body temperature mild, not warm. Take a cool bath or shower to cool off.

Standing Or Getting Up Quickly

Postural hypotension is when you feel dizzy after standing or getting up (such as getting out of bed). If you are in public and start feeling dizzy step away and get some fresh air. If possible, lie down with your feet elevated or sit with your head between your knees.

Do You Have Low Blood Sugar?

Oxygen isn't the only factor to consider during your pregnancy. Sometimes you can feel faint because you simply don't have enough energy. Consider drinking some juice to replenish your body fluids and give you that extra boost of energy. Also don't be afraid to have a few snacks throughout the day to keep your blood sugar levels high.
